MeridianTeaParty.com will host a 'Get Out the Vote' Rally in downtown Meridian.

The rally will be Oct. 23 in Dumont Plaza, 22nd Avenue and 5th Street, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The group met Thursday to discuss its plans for the final days leading up to the Nov. 2 election. Members are encouraging everyone to get involved and participate in getting out to vote.

"Well we've got a couple of elements here in District 3. First of all, we want to keep enthusiasm up for the election," said Paul Tarver. "But we also want to remind people that it is their duty to vote and to participate in the process. We don't want people sitting home. With a little research, they can participate and vote. We've been reminding people with our billboard that November 2nd is coming and that is an important day."

A number of individuals will be speaking at the upcoming event. Meridian Mayor Cheri Barry and Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant are two of them.
