Members of Meridian's West Mount Moriah Baptist Church hosted what they call, 'Ministers in Music Concert' Sunday afternoon. The church's inspirational choir organized the event as a fundraiser. But they say the main focus is their worship.

Members of West Mount Moriah Baptist Church are no stranger to the world of music.

"We have about five choirs and a music ministry here," says Pastor Odell Hopkins, with West Mount Moriah Baptist Church.

That's why they took the opportunity to share their gift of music with the rest of the community. Not only did the church members take the time to worship together. They also embraced the simple joy of singing.

"Really, they like singing and we like singing at West Mount Moriah. So it's a good opportunity to share with our neighbors, share with fellow pastors, and share with fellow choirs," says Pastor Hopkins.

Bill Watson is the Vice President of the Inspirational Choir at West Mount Moriah. He hopes to spread a positive message through song.

"We just hope everybody leaves here with a clear mind and a good heart. Most of all, uplifting Jesus name," exclaims Watson.

Ministers in music was held at West Mount Moriah, but those church members weren't the only ones in attendance. Members from Saint John Baptist Church, Grace Baptist Church, and El Bethel Baptist Church also participated in the day of fun and praise.

"We decided to host it here again, because it is part of the music ministry's efforts to keep the spirit of Christ alive. And it's the season. The backdrop of Halloween coming and all of those things. We wanted to present something positive," says Pastor Hopkins.

And they hope to take this positivity with them throughout the rest of the week.
