The Mississippi Supreme Court has ruled that two ballot initiatives on personhood and eminent domain can appear the Nov. 8 general election ballot.
The court Thursday dismissed challenges filed by opponents.
In each case, a majority of justices said it was not time to raise constitutional issues.
The court reinforced its own opinion issued in 2000, which said justices could not review the constitutionality of an initiative until the measure is approved by voters.
The personhood and eminent domain amendments will join a third one, voter ID, on the November ballot.
The state Election Commission meets Friday to finalize the
sample ballot that will be sent to counties.
A Hinds County judge had earlier rejected opponents' arguments against the personhood and eminent domain amendments.
