Mississippi emergency management officials are sending workers to help out in the response to hurricane sandy on the east coast.
MEMA has dispatched an incident management team of five people to Maryland. It includes three
MEMA employees, a Department of Human Services employee, and an employee from Harrison County. All have experience in dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes.
"The state of Mississippi owes debts, is in debt to every other state in the country for their assistance in response to multiple hurricanes, but especially Katrina," said Jasper Welch of MEMA. "So we're honored to go to help the citizens in the state of Maryland as a return favor."
Officials say the team will assist emergency officials there in any way they can.
