The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at more than 50 sites in Hancock, Harrison and Jackson counties. It's part of the International Coastal Cleanup.
In 2009, more than 3,770 volunteers collected more than 49,000 pounds of trash along 144 miles of beaches and barrier islands.
DMR says the focus this year will be on cleaning shorelines and waterways instead of beaches and barrier islands.
