GREAT JOB!!!! My son watches Wheel every day and he was excited to see a Mississippian on there winning. It was just the icing on the cake that he is a USM student (grad).

Elliot is the son of Stan and the late Debbie Yates. Elliot lost his mother last year, to cancer. (The owner of Yates Building Supply and Construction company is Bill Yates, who is a distant family member of Elliot's.) Elliot is the epitome of a Christian gentleman, and has one of the nicest, most humble families which I have ever known. Elliot is a hard-working and well-educated man and, in my humble opinion, he DESERVED to win as much as anybody. He is also an incredibly talented singer.

Please get your facts straight before bashing some one for their success. That's is not the son of the man that owns Yates building supply, and so what if it happened to be you, actually thought that had something to do with his winning? Why can't you just congratulate the man and forget it!!!!'n

Well said s0uthernchik... Philadelphia has produced several well-deserving people. She should be very proud. I'm sure they worked very hard to accomplish so much & people should give praise where praise is due. AND, it's not about the money.

Congrats, he played so well! Maybe he'll share some of his winnings with others less fortunate or do something good for his community..either way I didn't know it was a sin to be well off. No doubt his family worked for what they have.

It is good to see good & positive posts as well. It's a matter of education, pride & perseverance. NO DOUBT is showing a tad of jealousy & apparently "me" didn't read the story. Proves my point on other stories & posts. Kudos to the winner & the other positive posters! Way to go...

Proud of his appearance and intellect; seemed like a really nice, cultured, and well brought up young man---and extremely intelligent. He did himself proud, and I am sure that his family is proud as well!
