Moratorium Vetoed

Meridian Mayor Cheri Barry made good on a promise to veto a moratorium approved earlier this week by the city council.

The moratorium prohibited the issuance of commercial building permits in midtown. In all, 100 blocks were affected.

The moratorium was prompted by an effort to open a Dollar General store next to the Poplar Springs Historic District.
