Queen City Nursing Center celebrated National Nursing Home Week Monday.
Residents released dozens of balloons as a fun way to mark the occasion.
This week promotes the relationships between the community and the residents and staff.
Queen City has several events set for this week including a crazy hat day, a fifties day and a casino day. The balloon liftoff is one of the residents' favorite events.
"They love to come outdoors and release the balloons," said activities director Chandra Collier. "And usually we all sit around and wait and see which the balloon went the farthest."
The center puts messages inside the balloons. Last year one of the them made it all to the way to a student in Georgia.
