New MPD Building Construction Delayed

Meridian city officials confirmed Tuesday that construction at the new Meridian police station is being delayed until March.

The work is being done by Watkins Development at the former Cowboy Maloney building on 22nd Avenue, near the old Village Fair Mall site.

City officials say there have been some delays in finalizing some of the tax credits needed to do the work. But they claim the delays should not cost the city any extra money.
