Newton County will host its household Hazardous Waste Amnesty Day Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.at the Newton County Civic Center Show Barn in Newton, next to the driver's license center.
Newton County residents may bring items like used paint, batteries, tires, used motor oil, chemicals and household cleaners for proper disposal. Business and medical waste will not be accepted.
The city of Meridian will also have two collection sites set up from 8 a.m to 2 p.m. for Meridian residents: the Public Works Complex, next to the 29th Avenue bridge, and on North Hills Street, next to the bowling alley.
