Louisville, Mississippi Our next one tank trip for the family brings us to Louisville, Mississippi and if you're looking for a beach away from the beach, Lake Tiak-O'Khata is your destination.
The same family has owned the lake for almost 60 years. It's spring fed, which means the water is very clear. And whether or not you choose to splash around, the staff will make sure you're having the best time possible.
"We pride ourselves on our southern hospitality," owner Carmen White points out. "Everybody here, every employee that we have, strives to make every guest's trip a fun time. They're our main goal, to make sure when they come here, they're going to go home and say they had a great time, and come again next year. Or next week."
There's plenty to keep you occupied with the sandy beach, diving boards, water slides, nature trails, boats and picnic areas all in one spot. What makes Lake Tiak-O'Khata different from other getaways is that you don't have to leave. You can rent a cabin like this with a view like that for as low as $110 a night. If you want to stay but save some extra cash, there are also motels to rent, as well as an RV park. Sonya Bailey, who made the trip for her birthday, says the stay is definitely worth it.
"The cabins were very nice, all the staff here has been very polite and very helpful for us the whole time we've been here and it's been an all-around good experience for all of us," Bailey says.
A day's visit to the beach costs $8.95 for those ages 11 and above, $6.50 for ages 5 to 10, and anyone younger than 5 gets in for free.
