Operation Homecare in York is looking for a new place to call home.
The agency that was born out of the need following Hurricane Katrina must vacate its current location at 300 Kentucky Avenue.
Since 2005, Operation Homecare has also been a sort of clearing house for donations when other natural disasters have occurred.
Director Cynthia Brooks is asking for immediate help to get a storage facility and a long-term solution for a permanent location.
"We don't care if it's Meridian. We don't care if it's in Birmingham. We don't care if it's in Demopolis," said Brooks. "We just want somewhere to have a home. We're helping out some homeless people right now in Meridian. And I notified them last week that we were going to be homeless also."
Brooks said she's grateful the Industrial Board has allowed Operation Homecare to use its current building to this point. She says the deadline for the agency is Dec. 4.
Anyone who might have a solution may contact Brooks at 205-392-9292 or 205-499-0119.
