PSC Requests Proposals for Coal Plant

State utility regulators have asked Mississippi Power Co. and the Sierra Club to submit proposals on how to proceed with the Kemper County coal-fired power plant.

The Mississippi Supreme Court ruled Mar. 15 that the Public Service Commission failed to lay out its reasoning clearly when it changed the terms under which Mississippi Power could build what it calls Plant Ratcliffe in Kemper County.

The Supreme Court told the PSC to clarify how it decided to allow construction of a Kemper County power plant last year.

In an order filed this past week, the PSC gave the two sides an April 2 deadline to submit proposals.

The key issue is not whether the plant is a good idea, but whether the PSC adequately laid out its rationale.

What best represents your opinion on the future of the coal plant in Kemper County?

I have been sending alot of supplies to this cole plant and isn't it a little late to be trying to do anything at this point. What are they trying to do?

I heard it wasn't going to be a "power plant" but a "chemical plant". They are going to capture CO2 and use it. They are very misleading.

This isn't about the plant bearhunter. It's about Corporate Greed and the endorsement of 2 of 3 PSC Commissioners to put the Corporations Profits over the ability of the PEOPLE to pay a reasonable rate for their power bills. No, "not much brains" at all.
