The grand opening of the Philadelphia-Neshoba County Senior Citizen Center was held Thursday afternoon.
The building, outside lights, and parking lot totaled $1.2 million.
Philadelphia Mayor James Young says this addition is just part of the city's development.
"It brings that retirement part and other issues to our city. It makes Philadelphia almost complete," said Mayor James Young. "We are working on completeness of our city, so we offer services to everybody. "
The center was needed because the former one was destroyed during Katrina.
It has multiple functions. It can be used for emergency evacuations, as well as for receptions.
