Within the last month Chief Richard Sistrunk says there have been at least two drive-by shootings. One person was injured, and an arrest has been made.
Two arrests have also been made in a convenience store robbery where the clerk was assaulted with a handgun. Now officers are searching for a suspect in two laundromat burglaries that happened late Sunday night.
"Two of our local laundromats where film footage has been recovered now," explained Sistrunk. "And we're in the process, at this time, investigators are retrieving video of one of the gentlemen that did the breaking and entering."
In the laundromat burglaries, an undisclosed amount of money was stolen. As surveillance video was still being processed, Sistrunk said officers were also close to making arrests in an armed robbery at the Stop & Go convenience store on Highway 16.
"Where one entered the store, crossed over the counter, took an unknown amount of money, exiting the store back the same way," said Sistrunk. "Through our investigation we learned that there was a second gentleman involved in this. We have identified the two suspects. We're now just trying to locate them."
Although suspects in the robbery have been identified, police did not immediately release their names. According to Chief Sistrunk their arrests are expected soon.
