A man who barricaded himself inside of a Meridian motel ended up surrendering to authorities after hours of negotiating.
Meridian Police say it all began around 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon in the back of the Quality Inn off of Highway 145. Authorities say the suspect forced his way into a neighboring room while carrying a weapon. The individual in the room was able to escape unharmed, but the suspect barricaded himself for several hours before surrendering at 6:45 p.m.
Investigators say prior to the standoff, there was already an outstanding warrant for the suspect in Clarke County, as well as several misdemeanor warrants in Lauderdale County.
