An interim Police Chief is expected to be named early next month in Philadelphia.
Chief Richard Sistrunk is in the last days of his term as Chief. He announced earlier this month he would be stepping down from the post at the end of July.
Mayor James Young says he hates to see Sistrunk go, but he feels there are some good candidates within the department to take over, and the City will also look at out of town options as well.
"We have some very able and capable personnel that could step up," says Young, "and we're going to give everybody a good look."
An interim Chief is expected to be named at next month's Board of Aldermen meeting, then the formal application process will begin.
