Lauderdale County, Miss. An inmate at East Mississippi Correctional Facility at Lost Gap is recovering from injuries received in a stabbing at the prison Sunday.
Authorities say the inmate was stabbed with a homemade weapon during an altercation between several inmates.
His injuries were serious, but not life-threatening.
The case is now under investigation by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department and investigators at the prison.
"I understand there was a number of individuals involved, but only one injured that required treatment at one of our local hospitals," said Maj. Ward Calhoun.
The case will be presented to the next available Lauderdale County grand jury.
