A group of Meridian bikers gave away a truck today as a prize in a charity raffle.
The Queen City Cruisers celebrated its second year as a group when it came up with the idea for the raffle. The group will be donating the money raised from the raffle to various charities, including Love's Kitchen, South Harbor Shelter, Cans for Kids and a scholarship fund. The Queen City Cruisers say its group holds several charity events throughout the year.
"A lot of times family is really what you need. Just someone who cares about you. That's what we want to do," Slim Jim, a member of the Queen City Cruisers explained. "We want to reach out to caring families, to love's kitchen, south harbor shelter, just to let them know that we're here to give back. "
Each of the riders set out to sell a certain amount of tickets. And Slim Jim says each one met his quota. Crystal Weeks was chosen as the lucky winner of this truck.
