An addiction treatment center in Chunky focuses on people struggling with addictions, with the goal of restoring families.
Righteous Oaks is a Christ-centered recovery program that seeks to deal with not only the symptoms of addiction but the root cause as well.
"I came here the day the terrorists attacked Sept. 11," said David Mock of Righteous Oaks. "And God has made a difference in hundreds and hundreds, men and families, lives too. A man's addictions affects the whole family. (I) give all praise and glory to God that He set me free and I'm working on fifteen years."
Current residents of Righteous Oaks told Newscenter 11 how it changed their lives.
"I was in a very dark place," said resident Scott Russell. "I was suicidal, homicidal. You know, I lost everything, my family, everything. And I made a call to Bro. David. He answered the phone. And if he hadn't answered the phone, I'd be a dead man today."
"We go to church every day," said resident Rodney Wright. "And get to learn about the Lord, and get a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. It's just a blessing."
"Most definitely. Family members and people here, you know, it's, we look up to each other," said resident Justin Norris. "We're our brother's keeper. You know, we lean on each other here a lot."
Restoration in families. I've seen it bring families back together and all," said resident Paul Bowman. "You know, everything here's for the Lord.
The recovery center aims to reunite families, so they can enjoy life once again and be on the right track.
"There's also restoration needed in a family," said Mock. "When a man's in an addiction, it affects the whole family, and we reach out to the whole community."
In the last eleven years Righteous Oaks has brought in over 5,000 residents. They may be contacted by calling 601-604-7578.
