Road Block Leads to One Arrest

Mississippi and Alabama Highway Patrol Officers were spread all along Highway 80 near the state line on Saturday morning to make drivers aware of their presence on roads this holiday weekend. Authorities say they will be strictly enforcing the law.

While our photographer was on the scene Saturday morning, officers say they arrested one man on suspicion of driving drunk. Authoriities tell us all motorists should be on the lookout for drunk drivers this weekend.

"Goes to show you that drunk drivers begin when they get up or when they go to bed or if they ever go to bed," MHP Master Sgt. Andrew Emerson says. "So, it's always an important issue to wear a seatbelt because people are drinking and driving. Also, this time last year during the same period, we lost nine people on the highways. We just want to emphasize the usage of seatbelts, child restraints, and don't drink and drive."

Authorities say they are working to bring the number of people killed on roads from nine last year to zero this year.

Live Free Or Die. Ha! That didn't last very long. I wish I would have thought of Click It Or Ticket! Training the masses to be in restraints from infancy. Brilliant! The Central Government taking over the local law enforcement agencies by withholding dollars due them. What was the purpose of this three day weekend holiday again? (If it was about safety, you would be wearing helmets and fire suits.) Live Free Or Die!! haaaa! Karl Marx

To Henri, maybe you should have read the article before I posted a comment. It's very clear that it has been changed after I posted. Get YOUR facts straight before your comment.

I don't know what 'emphaise' means, but in the article, the word is 'emphasize', showing that professional journalists do know how to spell. Perhaps you need to learn how to read. . . or learn to overcome the difficulties that come from dyslexia so you won't post a comment that makes you look like condescending jerk.
