The Vein Center at Rush Hospital screened its first patients Tuesday.
Using ultrasound technology, doctors are able to see if patients are suffering from a venous condition.
About 25 percent of women and 15 percent of men in the United States are have varicose veins, a serious condition.
Treatment consists of a non-invasive outpatient procedure with patients able to immediately return to their normal routine.
"I just think it's important that we start to educate the population on venous disease because it's a very common problem, and also leads to a significant amount of lost days of work and also activity," said Dr. Ben Rush, a cardiovascular, endovascular and venous surgeon.
Screening times are available for Oct. 2 and Oct. 23. For information, call The Vein Center at 601-703-4600.
