Rush Health Systems has issued a warning about a phone scam that is targeting primarily elderly patients.
Callers claim to represent Rush or Laird hospitals and seek personal information such as date of birth, Social Security Number, credit card number and PIN numbers. They may also request prescription numbers or information related to a bill.
According to Rush Health Systems, the scam has already been associated with other hospitals around the country.
Rush says it does not make calls of this kind and will always provide you with proper identification and a number you can call back to verify the call is legitimate.
Rush says it has reported the scam to the Mississippi Attorney General's Office.
