If you are looking for a way to volunteer your time in an effort to give back this holiday season, there may be just the job for you!
The Salvation Army says bell ringing is a great way to get involved in its christmas program. Officials say adult Sunday school groups and businesses are good groups to take part in this mission. All you have to do is give 2 hours of your time and you are giving someone a happy holiday season in the process.
"But most of my bell ringers are not really dedicated to doing it," Major Walter Strong says. "It's a job, but a volunteer is there because they want to be and they want to help. And they want to make a difference and that makes it entirely different. Not only that, a volunteer knows a lot more people and can maybe strong arm some of their friends."
There are a total of 18 donation sites in our area, inlcuding Bonita Lakes Mall and all Walmart stores. For more information, call the Salvation Army at 601-483-6156.
