Save the Shelter

For several weeks now organizers have been getting the word out about the Save the Shelter concert set for Friday.

A large crowd came out to The Evangel Temple to hear from the Voice of Unity Community Choir, as well as David and the Giants, and Bryron Cage.

Numbers from the evening have not come in with the event wrapping up Friday evening, but officials with Multi-County Community Service Agency say it was a good start.

"This is just the beginning," says Mary Atterberry with MCCSA, "and it will be an ongoing effort to raise funds to keep our shelter open."

It's unknown if the shelter will receive money from the state for next year, and even if it does, officials say more funding will likely be needed.
