The Revelers were a string quartet based out of Sebastopol. The group's biggest hit, "Wednesday Night Waltz," sold nearly 200,000 copies.

The plaque will be centrally located in front of Sebastopol Town Hall.

Mayor Greg McGarrity says the group practiced in the back of the old drug store just up the street from town hall.

The band members, Will Gilmer, Dallas Jones, R.O. Mosley and Jim Wolverton, grew their popularity from the late 1920s as a local dance band to recording artists for Columbia Records. They cut 44 different tunes between 1927 and 1930.

McGarrity says the group's popularity escalated with their waltz-style rhythm.
