Meridian, Miss. The victim of a Sept. 4 shooting in Meridian died of his injuries around 3 a.m. Wednesday.
45-year-old Manuel Torres was shot several times in a field next to Enterprise Funeral Home.
Torres' body was sent to Jackson for an autopsy.
"It (the bullet) actually clipped the femoral artery," said Cobler. "They went in and repaired, did a shunt, but for some reason, he didn't pull through. He had lost a lot of blood before the ambulance got there. There was a lot of internal loss also."
The Meridian Police Department late Wednesday afternoon identified the suspect as 33-year-old Christopher J. Morris of Meridian. He is still at-large.
Morris is described as 5' 7" and about 175 pounds.
Officials say Morris could be in the Meridian area or possibly Prentiss, Miss.
If you have any information about Morris' whereabouts, you may report it to Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
