Meridian, Miss. The Mississippi legislature just wrapped up and Speaker Pro Tem Greg Snowden says it's been the most productive session he has seen.
This is the third year since Republicans have been in control of the House of Representatives. Snowden says this session will be remembered for the public safety aspects, particularly the corrections and criminal justice reforms.
"I have told people and I really believe when we look back years from now, if we're blessed to have additional years, to look back at our service, it's very likely that members who served in the 2014 legislative session will be able to look back and say yes, we made a difference with that," Snowden explains.
There were 19 specific recommendations in that session. Snowden says lawmakers focused strongly on correcting a disconnect between what happens in the courtroom and incarceration.
