Students at St. Patrick School in Meridian dressed up as famous Mississippians and played the parts on a 4th grade version of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Students talked about their characters' favorite Mississippi memories. There are a lot of famous people from the state.
Besides Oprah, those portrayed Friday included Jim Henson, Elvis Presley, Robert Johnson, Eudora Welty, and Jimmie Rodgers.
The show is part of the students' Mississippi history lessons.
"I think the students have learned the several aspects that it takes to become a famous Mississippian, the struggles that they've had to go through, and it has just really helped them," said Lindsey McPherson, 4th grade teacher. "And I think it more than helped, but inspired them to make sure they achieve their dreams."
"We've had fun dressing up and things," said Erin Clark who portrayed Oprah Winfrey.
All the students say they had a lot of fun getting to learn about and perform like their characters.
