The victim was reportedly stabbed about twenty times in her home at Magnolia Apartments in Newton. She was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. At last check her condition was still unknown.

In the wake of the stabbing, officers had identified 25-year-old Tony Boyd as a person of interest in the case. Newton Police Chief Harvey Curry says charges are expected to be filed against someone in the stabbing later this morning. With the charges yet to be filed, at this time the name of that person has not been confirmed.
