Meridian, Miss. The rainy and gloomy weather could not put a stop to the WTOK food drive on Saturday.

Members of the WTOK staff were on hand all morning long at Vowell's Market Place on North Hills Street and Cash Saver grocery store on Frontage Road. The donations poured in from the community and those donations that we collected will go right to needy families in our area this holiday season.

"It's different this year because we're starting with a different company but we're excited about feeding the hungry," Marion Whitlock with Vowell's Market Place said. "This isn't my first year, I've been here since 2007 and we've been doing it every year to feed hungry families. We will be doing it till Christmas."

The donated food will be distributed through Multi-County Community Service Agency.

Johnson Dodge and John O'Neil Johnson Toyota each loaned out a truck to help transport all of the donations. WTOK would also like to thank Cash Saver and Vowell's Market Place for their assistance.
