Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says Lynn Jerome Swanner is no longer eligible for bond.
Calhoun says prior to Swanner's arrest on the coast this past weekend on grand larceny charges, Swanner was already out on a felony bond for a felony fleeing charge. That stemmed from a case involving a stolen trailer in early August.
"With our new charges of grand larceny, the original bond is the first charge and is actually revoked, which is the way the law is written," Calhoun says.
Now that Swanner's bond is revoked, Calhoun says Swanner will remain incarcerated until the case is presented to the next available grand jury, which could be anywhere from 6 months to a year from now.
"Mr. Swanner made decisions that have now resulted in him being charged with another felony," Calhoun says. "And so he will be staying with us until those charges are taken care of disposed of through the court system."
As for the female that authorities say helped Swanner escape Lauderdale County last month, Calhoun says she is not facing any charges at this time.
