The Meridian Symphony Orchestra is again sharing with the community what it's doing to involve school children in the arts.
Symphony Doo Dah Friday night, Feb. 14, at the MSU Riley Center features a pre-concert event to appeal to kids, including some of their favorite Disney characters.
It also has opportunities for children to try playing instruments themselves. Then the concert afterward is tailored for families in both length and content.
"We feel like if we don't get children involved in music early they will not show an interest in music later on," said the MSO's Zena Limerick. "And like everything else the symphony audience is getting older, so it benefits us to introduce this music to children, when they're young, so as they grow they will learn to have an appreciation of it."
The pre-concert events starts at 6 p.m. The concert starts at 7 p.m.
Tickets for the show are $10 for students and military personnel. Adult tickets are $20 and $25.
For tickets, contact the Riley Center at 601-696-2200 or visit www.meridianso.org.
