TISBA Hosts Jimmie Rodgers Tribute Week

The International Singing Brakeman Association is honoring Jimmie Rodgers this week. Rodgers died May 26, 1933.

The annual tribute week has been an ongoing tradition for a long time. The sounds of old-time country music can be heard at the Best Western in Meridian, as old and new friends gather to remember Rodgers and his international contribution to music.

"We love music, for one thing, and we love the music of Jimmie Rodgers," said TISBA secretary Leola Jones. "We love traditional country music. And we start jamming every day from about 2:00 to 6:00. We stop and eat supper at 6:30. And the actual show starts about 7:00."

Anyone wanting to join them may pay $10 a night to enjoy the meal and music, now through Saturday.

Jones says one visitor from Australia has made the trip to Meridian for 40 years, to remember Jimmie Rodgers.
