The East Central Mississippi Telephone Pioneers celebrated the Christmas season of giving Tuesday.
The organization of retired Bell telephone employees recently gave a donation of $1,000 to the Mississippi Wounded Warrior Project. It assists members of the military when they return from duty.
The Pioneers also donate socks and toiletries to the Veterans Nursing Home in Kosciusko.
"We like to give back to our community," said Teresa Westbrook, president of the East Central Mississippi Telephone Pioneers. "We're all, you know, local people that worked for the phone company. And we get together and we try to do things that we can help others around here."
The donation to the veterans home totaled around $500. The Telephone Pioneers sell cookbooks each year to help raise money for charitable projects.
