The 123rd edition of the Neshoba County Fair has begun, soon the horses will hit the track, musical acts will hit the stage, and politicians will take the podium at Founder's Square.
Friday was all about settling in to cabins, and getting set for all the activity coming in the next week.
Mildred Estes says she's been coming to the Fair for over a decade, and opening day is always exciting.
"It's a week off, it's a fun place, and you get to see everybody," says Estes.
The entertainment schedule kicks off midway through next week and so does the political speaking, Governor Phil Bryant will close out the speeches Thursday, August 2nd.
Just because this year's Fair is underway, that doesn't mean the work is done for the Fair committee.
"In fact we already started planning for next year's fair," says Fair Manager Doug Johnson, "and in 2014 we'll celebrate our 125th anniversary so we're working on that right now."
"Today, and for the next seven days, it's this years fair [that we'll focus on.]"
