Meridian, Miss. It's one of the first things you see as you drive into Meridian. Its outline stands on the skyline. And on Apr. 1, the big, beautiful and historic Threefoot Building turns 84 years old.
The Threefoot Preservation Society has done a lot to get the building ready for potential investors as well as getting it dressed up for its own party. The organization is excited to show off all its hard work.
Drew Torgerson, in charge of marketing for the Threefoot Preservation Society, says, "Now after we came in, did a lot of work, to see the work that we've put into it, it's amazing. And for the public to see it, and see it not just when it's in its worse shape, but to see like it is now, it's going to be a real treat. People are going to be pretty shocked and surprised."
The Threefoot Building won't be the only one celebrating a birthday. Dr. Henry Threefoot is coming in from New Orleans to celebrate his 87th birthday alongside the Threefoot. He will be the one cutting the cake to begin the festivities.
Torgerson says, "We’re going to have a get-together; it's an open house, open to the public, and starts at 5:00. It's going to be really exciting. We're going to have live music, and we're even going to have some of the Threefoot family here. Dr. Henry Threefoot is going to be in town along with his wife and daughter.
The fun begins Tuesday night at 5 p.m. on the first floor of the Threefoot Building. The public is welcome.
