Top Career-Tech Students Honored

Meridian, Miss. The top career and technical students attending Ross Collins Technical Center were recognized Wednesday by Meridian Community College.

Medallions and certificates were presented to high school students who scored 80 percent or higher on their state tests, known as CPAS.

Officials say these are the type of students MCC and other institutions want to recruit to their programs.

Ross Collins director Terry Moore says these students are the best of the best.

"But it also gives you articulation with the community college here. And what that means is the college can give you credit or you don't have to take some of the classes out here, by scoring 80 percent or above on the CPAS," said Moore.

Officials say career and technical fields are where the jobs are right now.
