Quitman, Miss. The city of Quitman is preparing to host a town hall meeting about the new C Spire fiber optic cable that will be located there.
The meeting will take place Monday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. in the auditorium at Quitman High School.
The first area the cable will cover will include most of the city limits. Officials hope to expand into other areas in Clarke County once it has been established.
The meeting will educate the public about what the cable could offer.
"An economic and development shot in the arm," said Mickey Long, president of the Clarke County Board of Supervisors. "It is a possibility for what we are working on to take our city from when we went down in the past years, losing industry, losing living jobs. This could be a turn around for our city and revitalization of the city and county."
At the meeting, costs for the digital package will be discussed, which includes phone, Internet service, and television. Officials say those details have not yet been finalized.
