Some of the highlights of the 2012 "Merry Meridian" include the tree lighting ceremony in front of City Hall and the downtown Christmas parade.
"Merry Meridian" officials say all of the events provide an economic boost for the area.
Events will begin in early November with the "Artini's" event at the Meridian Museum of Art, which is similar to "Artaritaville," held in the summer time.
"You know, we are a non-profit organization," Kate Cherry with the Meridian Museum of Art says. "So, we have to raise our own funds and so this is just one of our fundraiser's that we have each year that helps us with our exhibition and educational programs."
"The economic benefit of this really is immeasurable," Sidney Covington says. "But the main thing it does is continue to put the crossroads of I-20 and I-59 on the map. It happens right here in Lauderdale County."
