Meridian, Miss. There are only a couple more days available for the 2013 Trees of Christmas tour at Merrehope. Saturday and Monday are the final opportunities of the season to see the 25 Christmas trees on display at Merrehope and the F.W. Williams house.
"Countries all over the world, decorated by clubs and organizations and school children in our community, and they are all learning more and more about customs and traditions for holidays all over the world," said Betty Lou Jones of the Meridian Restorations Foundation.
Sue Shoffiett, one of the hostesses, says they've been very busy with guests constantly dropping by.
"It has been a very busy season but a fun one," Shoffiett said. "We've enjoyed the people who have come here for tours. I has been just a wonderful year. We've had trickles of people at times and we've had hordes of people. We rarely have a minute when we're just sitting and doing nothing, I can tell you that."
Shoffiett also says visitors have come from just about every state in the U.S.
"Wisconsin, Illinois, Texas, Alaska. We've covered by now, I've been told, just about every state in the union for this particular Christmas season," said Shoffiett.
Trees of Christmas continues through Dec. 30, with the exception of Sunday. Tour hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last tour of the day starting at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for senior citizens, and $5 for students.
