VP from BP Says Worker Distractions To Blame

A BP Vice President told the federal investigative panel that workers on the Deep Water Horizon Oil Rig were distracted by multiple activities and failed to shut down the well until forty-nine minutes after oil began flowing into the Gulf.

Steve Robinson, who led the team that questioned well site leaders as part of BP's internal probe, said Wednesday that by the time crew members reacted to the situation, hydro-carbons were already in the riser and could not be contained, which caused the explosion that killed eleven workers and led to more than 200-million gallons of oil to spew into the Gulf of Mexico.
