In recent days, there have been numerous incidents of vehicle theft in Meridian, Lauderdale County, and surrounding areas. the vehicles are being stolen from public places and people's driveways.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with other agencies, is looking for suspects.

Four stolen vehicles have been recovered by the LCSD.

"We received a report that two vehicles have been taken from a road in the county, almost right next to each other, two newer vehicles stolen from in front of residences," said Lauderdale County Deputy Joe Kirkpatrick. "While I was responding to one of those calls I came across a suspicious vehicle in Marion on Old Country Club Road.

Kirkpatrick says the vehicle was reported stolen from Quitman. He said the sheriff's department recovered the vehicle, impounded it, and began to search for evidence.

Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says that these vehicles were stolen, driven, and abandoned. Several that were stolen were damaged.

"We do believe all four of these are related and we have recovered some evidence," Calhoun said. "And hopefully we will be able to use that and it will lead us to some suspects we ultimately can charge."
