Victim's Family Speaks Out

Family members of Beth Morris say they can't believe they are faced with the task of having to say goodbye to their loved one.

She was helping him all the time," Morris' sister, Mary Cobb Rosenzweig says. "And look what happened to her. Look what he did to her."

Rosenzweig says what's an even bigger disbelief to her is the fact that the man accused of killing her sister, Harry Wayne Walden, is being charged with manslaughter and not murder.

Now, does this mean that any man in Mississippi can murder his wife and get out on $5,000 bail and be charged with manslaughter, she says. "Now, this is terrible."

She says what's even worse for her and other family members is that they were not allowed to sit in the courtroom when a judge decided whether to grant bond to Walden.

"I do want to stress that we were victimized," Rosenzweig says. "Because we were not able to sit in that courtroom and have the judge let us speak."

As for the manslaughter charge in this case, authorities say based on the evidence recovered so far, it appears the killing was not premeditated. Rosenzweig says she's not buying it.

Lauderdale County authorities say Walden remains in custody. His bond has been set at $50,000.

Rosenzweig says if you would like to assist her in her fight for justice, you can contact her at (917) 301-4082 or e-mail
