Students at West Lauderdale High School are making an impact on the community in a big way.
Thirty-seven students put together 104 comfort kits for the American Red Cross. Seventy-one are for adults and 33 are for children.
These kits are basic items we often take for granted, but after a disaster, help in the biggest ways. Items like toothpaste, tooth brushes and deodorant are just some of the items to help get victims of disaster back on their feet.
"Whether the disaster is a hurricane, a tornado, or a single family fire, last year we helped over a thousand individuals," said Linda Lauderdale of the American Red Cross. "We responded to over 400 single family fires in our chapter area, so these comfort kits will go a long way in helping people in our community recover from disaster."
The students are a part of the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America student organization.
