Wal-Mart had a surprise Monday for teachers at Crestwood Elementary School.
The company presented $50 gift cards to twenty teachers to be used as needed in their classrooms.
Personnel coordinator Cecelia Trussell says Wal-Mart knows teachers often use their own money for the supplies they need. It wants to help.
"That money is for them to buy pencils, pens, if that child seems to be hungry, whatever they need," said Trussell. "Wal-mart just wants that teacher to know that we're behind them, we're behind this school, and we just want everybody to have a better life."
Wal-Mart also brought lunch to show its appreciation for teachers.
