Wesley House to Take Thanksgiving Applications

Wesley House will start accepting applications for Thanksgiving assistance Monday, Aug. 13.

The earlier start is due to an overwhelming number of families requesting food prior to the 2011 holiday.

Wesley House's executive director says this will help the agency prepare for the need.

Thanksgiving applications will be taken until Sept. 6 when Wesley House begins taking requests for Christmas help. That process will involve a significant change this year.

"In addition to the other information they bring, with ID and bills, also bring birth certificates for the children," said Ginger Grissom. "And the Social Security cards and the birth certificates are vital in order to receive assistance."

Grissom said that will help the Christmas Clearing House avoid duplication of services and reach more children.

Aug. 13-Sept. 6
Monday through Friday: 8:30 a.m.-12 noon and
1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
