With the Whole Schools Initiative Conference in town this week, a well known businessman hosted a reception Wednesday to give teachers and administrators a breather.

Hartley Peavey and his wife Mary hosted a reception at Peavey headquarters for those taking part in the Whole Schools Conference.

The Whole Schools Initiative is a program that helps teachers bring the arts into the classroom.

"Children learn that they too can be artists [through this program]," explains Clair Huff of Poplar Springs Elementary, "so it is a phenomenal program and we're delighted it's here in Meridian and we thank the Peavey's for having us here tonight."
