Meridian police say they've arrested a woman accused of assaulting an officer.

34-year-old Bonnie Jean McCoy is charged with simple assault on a police officer. The incident happened early Saturday morning at the 4400 block of 8th Street.

Police say McCoy attacked the officer as he was trying to arrest her following a disturbance.

The officer was treated at a local hospital for his injuries, and has since been released.

McCoy's bond was set at $25,000.
