Bond for an accused rapist in Kemper County has been revoked following a probable cause hearing in Kemper County Circuit Court.
Daniel R. Zales was arrested in August 2012 on charges of rape, kidnapping and forgery. Officials said at that time that Zales was holding a woman against her will and even tried to force her to get a marriage license with him at the Kemper County Courthouse. But the victim was able to get away and run across the street to the DeKalb Police Department.
"Not only did they find enough evidence to keep him, the judge also found enough evidence in our testimonies to revoke his bond," said Kemper County Sheriff James Moore. "So at this time his bond has been revoked on Mr. Zales and his next court date will be the end of April of this year."
Zales was working at the Kemper County coal plant at the time of his arrest. He has been incarcerated since his arrest.
